Adv. P.R. Rajkumar

Adv P.R. Raj Kumar was born on 25th May, 1951 in Palai in Kottayam District. His parents were Artiste Paloor Raman Nair from Thidanad in Kottayam District and Janaki Amma Kunjamma who was a singer, performing artiste/actress and Thiruvathirakali Teacher from Chenganoor. Raj Kumar is the youngest son of his parents. He has three siblings including a sister.

After completing his High School studies he continued education in many fields and studied various subjects such as Kerala Government Technical Education Board’s Typewriting Course, Electrical Engineering, Television Technology, Carnatic Music, Bharatanatyam, Folk Dance and Kathaprasangam. He continued his college studies as well and did his Post Graduation in Sociology.

He is married to Saroja Nair whose qualifications include post graduate degrees in English and Philosophy, B.Ed and H.D.C.

Later he came to Mumbai in search of a job. While doing some odd office jobs, he found time to associate himself with Malayali Samajams and participated in their various cultural activities which includes theatre. During this period he started his studies in law at VPM’s TMC Law College, Thane. Later he pursued his Post Graduate degree in law and passed LL.M. with flying colours.
Raj Kumar is a Senior Advocate and he appears for clients in Courts all over India. He is also working as the Consultant Counsel for several corporate firms.

As presenter, orator, writer, poet, lyricist, playwright, actor, organizer, director, social worker, charity worker, a good lawyer with humane thinking, Advocate Raj Kumar is a dynamic presence in Mumbai’s cultural scene.

He has held several positions and been actively involved in the field of culture and the arts. He was Director of Sithara Arts, Akshara Kala Samskarika Vedi, former General Secretary of All Thane Malayali Association (ATMA), Thane, Founder and presently President of the Malanadu Education and Welfare Association (MEWA), Administrator Signatory of Shree Ayyappa Temple, Vartak Nagar, Thane, Member of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy (Western Zone), Member / Reader, Scrutiny Board for Performing Arts of Government of Maharashtra.

Raj Kumar is a prolific writer and columnist. He has written several plays, skits, short stories and poems. He has also written lyrics for several dramas, devotional albums and social theme videos. As a freelance journalist he writes occasionally in many Malayalam daily newspapers. Raj Kumar’s articles, poems, stories and other creative writings appear regularly in various Malayalam and English newspapers and magazines.
