Chandra Menon

K.P. Chandrasekhara Menon alias Chandra Menon hails from Punnayurkulam village in Thrissur District, Keralam. He is a story writer, screenwriter, lyricist, music director and director.

After graduating with English literature as the main subject he started his own tutorial college in Punnayurkulam and ran it for 12 years. During this period he also focused on writing and amateur theatre.

Later he entered the film world as a story and screenplay writer. He writes in both Malayalam and Tamil with equal flair. His proficiency in Tamil helped him do some projects in Tamil. Chandra Menon wrote the story, screenplay and lyrics for two Tamil movies namely “Chinnamalar” and “Kathal Kanavu”. Similarly he wrote story, screenplay and lyrics for the Malayalam films “Komban”, “Koodaram” and “Mr. Wrong Number”.

Earlier he used to write under the pen name “Suryachandran”. He has good contacts with all the main South Indian actors, producers and filmmakers.
He worked as the Associate Director in all films, both in Tamil and Malayalam, for which he wrote story, screenplay and lyrics.

In 1995 he entered into television field with writing the lyrics for the Malayalam version of Ramanand Sagar’s popular Hindi serial “Mayajala Kadhakal”. Later he wrote the story and screenplay for Asianet’s mega serial “Alavudheennte Albhuthavilakku”.

Before the Covid 19 pandemic, the pre-production work for his latest film “Kaliyalla Changayi” was started and the production completed. Chandra Menon wrote the story, screenplay, lyrics, music score and direction of this film. This film will be released once the theatres open after the Covid 19 pandemic situation eases.

Chandra Menon has already started work on his forthcoming film projects.

Chandra Menon holds the prestigious post of President in the Managing Committee of the Malayalam Film and Television Chamber of Commerce.
