Prabha Ajannur

Prabha Ajannur was born in Ajannur in Kasargod District. He did his schooling at Udaya Nagar High School in Ajannur and college studies at Nehru Arts and Science College, Padannakkad. During his college days with the help of well-known writers he published “Utharam” a monthly magazine regularly. Later he became the editor of X-ray evening daily and news weekly.

He was a member of the editorial board of Kasargod Complete History, The History of Ajannur. Several of his articles were published in reputed publications. He has prepared scripts for documentaries based on Chamundi, Thidambu Dance, Poorakkali, Shaliya Porattu, Theyyam etc. for Dooradarshan. He was the script writer of Kairli TV’s first serial titled “Kanalppov”. Meera Vasudev got Kerala State Government Award for best serial actress for her role in “Kanalppov”.

He wrote the script for 100 episodes for the Good Morning Kerala programme of Dooradarshan, Malayalam.

Presently Prabha Ajannur is the Dooradarshan Krishi Darsan Programme Resource Person. He has done numerous documentaries for Krishi Darsan programme.
Another significant programme done by him for Dooradarshan was “Sahakaranathinte Vijayagadha” with 150 episodes.

He has done the script for a telefilm titled “Veyil Chayum Neram” which was telecast on 24th December, 2020.

Prabha Ajannur researched and collected information for “Karshika Varthakal” (Agricultural News) on Dooradarshan. He has done the script for Engine, Engine, Engine programme in Victor’s Channel.

He has also written and directed few documentaries for Victor’s channel and Kudumbasree. He regularly publishes articles in agricultural publications.

Before the last Panchayat election in Kerala, he wrote and directed a few documentaries about some Panchayats. Now he is the PRD Directors’ A Grade Panel Member.

Prabha Ajannur also worked as the script resource person and researcher for several special Dooradarshan programmes such as Onam programme, Sabarimala programme, programme about well-known poet and lyricist Rafeeq Ahmed and the programme about Padmasree Parassala Ponnamma, Kudumbasree’s reality show “Ini njangal parayam”.

He has written several short stories. He got Balakrishnan Mangad Award for his short story “Atharinte manamulla prarthana”. Based on his story “Maranathinu oppam oru Jeevitham” (A life of demise), he wrote the script and directed a documentary with the same title which was shown at the international film festival.

Prabha Ajannur now lives in Thiruvanathapuram with his family and continuing his writing and directorial ventures with dedication and passion.
